Conference Host

The main host of the 29th Annual Conference of ISDRS is the Faculty of Law UKM, and supported by the following institutes. 

Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia

Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (the National University of Malaysia) is proud to host the 29th ISDRS Conference in 2023. UKM celebrated its golden jubilee in 2020. At-52 years old, UKM has been recognized as the top 150 university, under both the QS World University Rankings 2021/2022, and the Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2021. To date, there are 13 faculties and 13 researh institutes in UKM.

The Faculty of Law UKM 

As one of the best law schools in Malaysia, the faculty has nurtured top lawyers, judges, ministers, parliamentarians, scholars, and CEOs in top corporate firms. The faculty academic members have been appointed by the federal and state governments to conduct research and develop laws and policies for the state and the country, such as preparing legal documentation for the nomination of Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) as the UNESCO World Heritage Site, develop framework for the country’s climate change law, and develop the National Water Policy. In conjunction with the faculty’s 40th anniversary in 2023, we are proud to be the main organizer of the 29th ISDRS Conference 2023.

UKM Graduate School of Business (GSB)

On 1st October 2007, UKM-GSB was established and offers Ph. D. (by thesis) program with specializations in Accounting, Marketing, Management (Organizational Behavior/Human Resources Management, Strategy, Operations) and Finance, along with the new improved DBA (with coursework & amp; dissertation). UKM-GSB aims to stimulate intellectual growth, develop critical skills and competency in the post-graduate students.   

UKM Strategy Center

The UKM Strategy Center was established on 1 May 2014 under the Vice Chancellor’s Office to facilitate and monitor the implementation of the 6 KRAs that have been set at all levels. In an effort to further improve excellence as a university that champions various fields, UKM has mobilized 18 strategic initiatives involving all KRAs from 2018. This initiative is branded as TEKAD 18. Taking into account the current changes and leadership in 2019, UKM’s 2014-2025 Strategic Plan based on six (6) KRAs has been revised. In connection with that, a new strategic plan that suits the current situation and the university’s focus, namely the UKM Strategic Plan 2019-2021 has been developed.

The Institute of Malay World and Civilization (ATMA)

ATMA establishment is driven by a general conception of the Malay world and Civilization field which includes philosophy, beliefs, material culture, identity, and all aspects of life within Malay cosmology, including landscape, ocean, and outer space.

UKM Centre for IDEA

UKM Centre for IDEA is established to mobilize impactful multidisciplinary research ideas in UKM that will provide comprehensive solutions to the nation’s current challenges. The IDEA research clusters include Heritage and Civil Society Cluster, Social and Economic Transformation Cluster, Digital and Frontier Technology Cluster, Advanced and Health Medicine Cluster, and Sustainable Resources, Environment, and Smart Living Cluster.

The Fuel Cell Institute UKM

The Fuel Cell Institute was established in 2006 as the first research institute in Malaysia conducting research on fuel cell and hydrogen energy. It has been working closely with PETRONAS, to promote hydrogen as an alternative energy and to support the hydrogen economy in the country.    

Institute of IR4.0 UKM

Aspired by Malaysia’s National 4IR policy to achieve sustainable growth and socio-economic development, UKM rebranded the Institute of Visual Informatics (IVI) to Institute IR4.0. This center of excellence in Computer Science & ICT integrates many other fields such as education, medicine & health, engineering and socio-economy to make it a multi-disciplinary center of excellence. 

Institute of Climate Change

IPI conducts research on the impacts of global change through the application of GIS, advances knowledge in the impacts of regional climate change, and promote multidisciplinary research in Space Science. IPI is the coordinator for Malaysia Environment Climate Action Network (ME.CAN).
